In a bold and defiant response, Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede has shut down Donald Trump’s renewed obsession with acquiring the Arctic territory, making it clear that Greenland is not for sale and will never belong to the United States.
Greenland Stands Firm Against Trump’s Neo-Imperialist Fantasies
During his recent speech to Congress, Trump once again revived his absurd dream of acquiring Greenland, claiming:
“We will keep you safe, we will make you rich, and together, we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible before.”
However, Prime Minister Egede wasted no time in setting the record straight, delivering a powerful rebuke in a Facebook post:
“We are not for sale and can’t just be taken. Our future is decided by us in Greenland.”
He further emphasized that Greenlanders are not interested in becoming part of the U.S. or even Denmark:
“We don’t want to be Americans, or Danes either. We are Kalaallit.”
The Kalaallit are the indigenous people of Greenland, and Egede made it clear that their identity and sovereignty will not be compromised by Trump’s imperialist ambitions.
Trump’s Desperation Knows No Bounds
This is not the first time Trump has obsessed over Greenland. In 2019, during his presidency, he infamously proposed buying the island, prompting widespread ridicule and backlash.
What makes Trump’s fixation even more ludicrous is that he is making these claims while the American economy is crumbling under his failed policies:
- Tariffs have sent prices soaring
- Grocery costs are skyrocketing
- Gas prices are higher than ever
- Workers are struggling to make ends meet
Why would Greenland want to join a failing economy under Trump’s leadership?
A Dangerous Mindset: Trump’s Threat of Military Force
Even more disturbing is the fact that Trump has not ruled out using military force to claim Greenland, further exposing his authoritarian fantasies. Given his well-documented admiration for Vladimir Putin, the threat of aggression is hardly surprising.
But Greenland’s firm rejection sends a strong message:
Greenland belongs to Greenland—no matter what Trump says.
Most Americans Stand With Greenland
To the people of Greenland: Know that the majority of Americans oppose Trump’s delusional ambitions.
Trump may be desperate to play the role of a 21st-century conqueror, but the world sees through his empty rhetoric. Greenland will never belong to the United States—because it already belongs to its people.
