“Elon, I want to thank you. I know you’ve been through a lot with this. It’s very unfair. What he is, is a patriot. He’s become a friend of mine. He’s never asked me for a thing. He could have. I always wonder if he’s ever going to ask me for something. But he’s never asked me for a thing,” Trump stated.
The former president also mentioned his decision to eliminate the electric car mandate, acknowledging that it could have negatively impacted Tesla. However, he reiterated that Musk never lobbied him for special treatment, further solidifying his respect for the tech mogul.
Taking a Stand Against Musk’s Critics
Trump criticized the backlash against Musk, claiming that certain groups had been unfairly targeting him due to his business ventures and outspoken views. He warned that those responsible for orchestrating these alleged attacks would face serious consequences.
“I got activated when I saw what people were doing to him last week. He makes an incredible product, and we wanted to get out there and tell people that you can’t do that stuff. They’ve got to support him. If he wasn’t doing this, he wouldn’t have had any of these difficulties.”
He further praised Pam Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General, for leading investigations into those who, according to Trump, have been attacking Musk.
“Pam Bondi is doing a great job with these investigations. When she finds them, they’re going to suffer grave consequences because they’re terrorists. I think that the people that are financing them could very well be people that I know. Those people are in big trouble, so they better cut it out.”
