Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo had an on-air meltdown after a Pennsylvania car dealer revealed that Donald Trump’s newly implemented tariffs are wreaking havoc on the auto industry, skyrocketing prices and crippling sales.
Car Prices Spike as Trump’s Tariffs Hit Hard
During a live segment, the car dealer—David Kelleher—did not hold back when asked about the devastating effects of Trump’s 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada.
“Dramatic. Dramatic,” Kelleher said. “I had sold an order for a customer. $80,000 truck. It’s $100,000 now, so he’s not going to buy the truck. It’s going to sit on my lot.”
With higher costs and rising interest rates, auto dealers are feeling the immediate financial pain.
“Nobody’s going to buy the truck because it just had a $20,000 price increase,” he added.
Fox News Struggles to Spin the Narrative
As the interview continued, Fox News attempted to downplay the economic fallout, with Bartiromo growing visibly frustrated. The American Automakers Policy Council has already warned that these tariffs will raise vehicle costs, slow investment, and hurt U.S. workers—all while foreign competitors remain unaffected.
“No tariff on the German cars coming in,” noted the Fox News reporter.
“No, they’re going to be okay. But think about it. We built our business around that, the OEMs built their business around that, and now it changes on a dime,” Kelleher replied.
Bartiromo, struggling to defend Trump’s move, fired back with a bizarre rant about Dodge Rams in Europe and India.
“How many Dodge Rams do you see driving around Europe, okay? How many Dodge Rams do you see driving around India? I mean, not many, I bet! Why?” she raged. “Because they don’t buy our cars and that’s what President Trump’s trying to change!”
Her attempt to justify economic chaos by blaming foreign car markets only highlighted the desperation to spin Trump’s failing policies.
The Reality: No Upside, Just Economic Disaster
The idea that gutting the U.S. economy and crippling domestic dealerships will somehow force foreign markets to buy more American-made vehicles is delusional. The truth is car dealers—historically strong Republican donors—are already regretting their support for Trump.
While it’s unclear how Kelleher himself voted, the broader auto dealer community helped put Trump in power—and now, they’re paying the price.
